ALBUMS OF THE WEEK: Bonny Light Horseman and game related by Cardo x Larry June x Payroll Giovanni

I had to do a two-fer this week, because I’m so excited about both of these 2020 releases. First, Americana supergroup/power trio Anaïs Mitchell, Eric D. Johnson (of Fruit Bats), and Josh Kaufman (who plays with both The national and Josh Ritter) have produced a truly phenomenal collection of songs under the name Bonny Light Horsemen.

Second: another threesome, two retro-rappers and a great beatmaker. Payroll Giovanni’s 2018 album big Bossin’ volume 2 still gets regular rotation from me.  Cardo produced that record, and also made a song with a guy named Drake called God’s Plan. You might have heard of it. and Larry June is a San Fran rapper who straddles the line between 1990s gangsta funk and the modern alt-rap sound.

It doesn’t get much better than this, in my book.

Cyber force #1

Overseen by creator Marc Silvestri (WITCHBLADE), writers Matt Hawkins (WARFRAME, believe TANK) as well as Bryan hill (BONEHEAD, POSTAL) as well as artist Atilio Rojo (SAMARITAN) will relaunch the traditional series CYBER force this March.

To protect the future, what will we become?

In a contemporary world where humanity is defined by the innovation it creates, a terrorist strikes at the heart of human progress. one of the few survivors of the assault is a guy named Morgan Stryker.

Mortally wounded, Stryker’s life is saved by his employers…but the cost of his survival might be his humanity itself.

“I’ve always liked CYBER FORCE,” stated Hawkins. “These heroes are more technologically based, as well as we’re extremely close to transhumanism as it is! This story has a philosophical slant to it that is extremely appropriate to the altering times we’re in.”

“CYBER force is what very first interested me in top Cow,” stated Hill. “My very first pitch to Matt was set in that universe. When Marc produced it, ideas of transhumanism as well as its impact on society were just esoteric theory, however now we online in that reality. We’re a types utilizing innovation to ‘perfect’ ourselves, however in what image? What occurs when development stops being a natural process as well as becomes a mechanized one? What is the future of this new humanity? I hope to engage these concepts in CYBER FORCE…and strike a great deal of things apart in flame as well as steel.”

“It is a special honor as well as an enormous enjoyment for me to take part in this project,” added Rojo. “I will provide my best, as always!”

CYBER force will introduce in March 2018.

BOY who cried WOLF by WIFISFUNERAL

Hailing from Florida, the Mecca for new rappers these days, Wifisfuneral moves swiftly through slow beats (by DJ Scheme), using words like a machete to cut the trail before him. featuring guests like Danny Tower and dirty face Smook, “Boy who cried Wolf” is a strong showing. He’s also a recovering drug addict, which gives him a bit a lot more balance in his perspective. listen close for the wisdom–because it’s there.
