I’m the very first one to admit that my understanding of reggae doesn’t go much farther than the soundtrack to The Harder They Come as well as Babylon by Bus. It’s not a type of music that generally moves me. perhaps since I don’t smoke pot anymore.
But Kwamevi’s EP hit me in the right place. it’s got the reggae backbeat, however it has a contemporary R&B feel. Or perhaps it’s that it has more of a world beat feel? I dunno. I just like it.
